GRPS;
This is known as Genera Radio Packet Service, which is a 2.5g data technology; the data speeds are quite slow, and the price per MB is very expensive.

HSDPA;
Known as High Speed Downlink Packet Access, which is a 3rd to 4th generation data network depending on how people look at it and if it includes MIMO (multiple Input, Multiple Output), further increases the speeds. In addition, if HSUPA is on that network, the uplink speeds will be even faster. The cost per megabyte is a lot lower so a lot more throughput can go through the network.

Difference;
HSDPA is a lot faster, newer technology, and cheaper per megabyte than GPRS. A lot more things one can do with HSDPA than with GPRS. Such as higher bandwidth applications, and ot...

Well for you to fully grasp the concept you need to know a little more than just the diff between the two.

to start:

GSM/GPRS 2.5G network anywhere there are GSM towers GPRS is right there. it stands for GLOBAL PACKET RADIO SERVICE, theritical speeds up to~ 170 kbps.....in reality 40-50..

then there was EDGE 2.75G(enhanced data rates for GSM eveolution) it is a firly inexpensive upgrade to GSM towers and therefore can be highly deployed everywhere....average speeds of 110-130 kbps....

next we have UMTS 3G (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) this is the basis for 3G networks......yields 400-700 Kbps....we're startin to cook...lol

Then you have HSDPA....(High Speed Downlink Packet Access) sometime refered to as a 3....
