M2M texting a good thing?

Cingular is encouraging feature churn.

All these M2M text packages are designed to boost feature sales. Fine, I get it. This is not as good for sales reps as they want us to think it is.

Every existing customer that wants this will have to remove the old package, (exactly the same but -$5 for m2m messaging) causing a chargeback. This is going to be a feeding frenzy. Every channel is going to be spinning the ever living crap out of everyones features.

Why would Cingular encourage such feature churn you ask? So they can have "record feature sales", (who cares about record charge backs 🙄 ) and these features have a brand new 6 month vesting period.

No text or internet feature you sold within the last 6 months is safe. I just h...

It is a good thing for the customer as well as reps. There is always feature churn when a new data plan/feature is introduced. Just figure out a way to make it work to your benefit. I am sure there are alot of people who will more apt to try the new data plans because of the unltd m2m even if they don't have a data plan now. Focus on changing existing customers to the new plan (your personal customers) as well as new customers and you should make out well.

Don't worry, every customer that walks through the door is offered a "new" bundle plan. I'm just saying that so is everybody else, and Cingular is encouraging it fro a reason.

Do you think it would have been that hard to make it an add on to an existing feature? Probably easier in fact. But the way it is they can claim that replacing a media basic with a media basic with m2m messaging is a $15 sale instead of a $5 sale. Who cares about the $10 chargeback right?

dont know what channel you guys are in but im in a corp store and with the comp change your getting it up the but. heres why, if i sold a 15 media works bundle 2 months ago to a customer and then change it to the new 20 dollar works with m2m then im getting charged back 11.25 and the new revenue of the m2m feature will be added to my at risk goal of 1600.00 which if i meet that quota i get a whopping 400.00 pay out at the end of the month which now is equivilant to 25% of feature sales instead of 75% prior.
