Does anyone familiar with the Motorola V220 know if the camera records video clips, or just has video playback alone?

None of the above. This is a mid-range camera phone with a crappy screen.

Actually, it does have video clip playback. That's one of the differentiating features of that series (the V180, V220, C380, C650).

How? I have been selling the v220 at my store ever since it was released and I've even used one myself to try it out, but I didn't notice any video playback feature at all. Is the feature carrier dependent or am I just overlooking this feature?

I've never actually tried it, but it is a feature that Motorola has been marketing since the phone was announced.

According to the user manual, you can receive video via MMS, or download them via WAP. Once you do, the clips can be played by going to the main menu, then "Multimedia", then "Videos".

Motorola marketed video recording on the v600 and it never had it... I don't think the v220 has video play...

I never saw that, and I followed every bit of V600 marketing very closely. They did promote video capability, but it was only playback, which the V600 does have, and always did.

The v220 (per the Moto website) does state video playback but via downloads. However, the Cingular branded v220 doesn't not have a video icon under multimedia like the v600 has.

Just video playback, and just downloaded clips - not streaming. No capture.
