Suspicious phone problems

🤨 I have had two very disheartening experiences because I can only surmise that there are other suspicious 'forces' at play. I had purchased two Nokia 6230 phones from Cingular two years ago for my wife and I to use. I had 16 months left on my contract left and her contract had 20 months left. Anyhow, with three months left on my contract my phone started acting strange by dropping calls left and right with constant sender 50 messages. After repeated calls with both Nokia and Cingular I was out of luck. So I figure it was a fluke and got another phone from Cingular. Out of curiosity I unlocked it and let my worker's wife use it and to this day it is working flawlessly on her T mobile... Well, two weeks ago after receiving my eligibility to...

Well, without playing too much into your conspiracy theory I could say your 850 MHz radio could be out of tune. Ever actually send it in to Nokia for them to attempt to repair the issue?

Considering T-Mobile uses 1900 MHz it could explain the issue. Otherwise, I have no clue as to the cause of your problem.

I have never heard of this issue before and at least I can find some closure here. I'm far from a conspiracy theorist and if I was told so I would've understood. One thing I can't figure out is why my wife's phone worked fine long after my phone and only recently began to malfunction. Anyhow, just goes to how that honesty is sometimes not the best policy for big business........

Honesty?

IF his explanation is true (I am not saying it is or is not, I just have not heard that reason for the phone beong discontinued) it sounds like you need to talk to NOKIA.

I have Cingular perform several recalls in recent history on handsets. If they know there is an issue they attempt to fix the problem.

you could always try and find out if Cingy uses 850 in your area or has started to recently as you did say it was working for quite a while with no problem.... or flash the phone with nokia firmware and see if the problem magically disappears..
