Considering T-Mobile uses 1900 MHz it could explain the issue. Otherwise, I have no clue as to the cause of your problem.

🤨 I have had two very disheartening experiences because I can only surmise that there are other suspicious 'forces' at play. I had purchased two Nokia 6230 phones from Cingular two years ago for my wife and I to use. I had 16 months left on my contract left and her contract had 20 months left. Anyhow, with three months left on my contract my phone started acting strange by dropping calls left and right with constant sender 50 messages. After repeated calls with both Nokia and Cingular I was out of luck. So I figure it was a fluke and got another phone from Cingular. Out of curiosity I unlocked it and let my worker's wife use it and to this day it is working flawlessly on her T mobile... Well, two weeks

IF his explanation is true (I am not saying it is or is not, I just have not heard that reason for the phone beong discontinued) it sounds like you need to talk to NOKIA.
I have Cingular perform several recalls in recent history on handsets. If they know there is an issue they attempt to fix the problem.
