Phone for Older Gentleman

I am looking for another phone for my father. He still has the Nokia6010 but he needs a new phone. I want another Nokia for him so he wont have to learn anything new. I invite all suggestions. I tried the 6102i myself and didn't really like the slow GUI or trying to situate the phone to my ear to be able to hear or the low volume. Is the Nokia 6126 the same way? THANK YOU

Thanks,,,I dont know if I mentioned it or not but a flip may be good too because he doesnt lock the keys on the 6010 all the time.

Nokia 6061, good luck finding one but it's basically a 6030 in flip style.

honestly another 6010 would probably be the best solution, or you could go with the 6030, phonw is a tad smaller, but very similar.....

Keep him on the 6010. There's nothing that will fit him better.

An LG CG225 is a pretty simple phone to use though. I've sold a ton of them and I never have problems with that phone.

I agree. My wife has a 6010 and really likes it for its good volume and reception. I like it because it has the auto lock feature which keeps her purse from calling the police every 30 minutes!

As you probably know, you can answer the phone if the keys are locked. The only time you have to unlock the keys is to make a call

Maybe also look at the Samsung c417 this phone has a nice large display and the numbers show up large. I have had several elderly people like this phone because of the large numbers and display. If he wants a flip I would suggest it over the 6102i.

Thank you ....Question, I had the i and it was hard to position it to hear well. Does the 6126 fit the same? I have the C417 as well and I agree with the large numbers I just know it would mean him learning something different. But I will switch the SIM cards and let him use my C417 for a while and see how he likes it.

I have the 6131 which is basically an unlocked 6126 and I have no problems hearing on it but it may have to many features that he will not use. Also you have to lock the keys on this phone still or when its in your pocket it will still punch numbers. I recommend letting him try your c417 and see if he likes it. Then when the 6126 comes out upgrade to it and let him use it a few days, if he decides he doesn't like it take it back and return it under the 30 day return policy and get the c417. Just my 2 cents 🙂

I would not give him a nokia flip phone if all he has used is the basic nokia bar phones. A basic nokia bar phone is one of the most durable reliable phones ever. The things can take a heck of alot of abuse. The Nokia Flip phones are way more fragile. I have had alot of elderly customers call in who have upgraded from a 3595 or 6010 or 6030 to a 6102 or 6102i and be ticked because the first time they dropped it from waste heigth the thing breaks. I would honestly just get him a 6030.

First of all without your two cents we wouldn't have a dollar!!! Thank you for your input!!!! I really want to help him and you are sharing your knowledge and experience...THANK YOU!!!..
The 6126 is a flip. how does it still dial uin your pocket? And it is okay if he doesnt use all the features, I just want him to be comfortable with it. Right now the 6126 is only 54.00 and that isn't expensive for his comfort.
Dang, that was something good about the 6230, it had a timed "lock keys" on it. I will switch with him and see if he likes mine.

Yes, the 6126 is a flip (I use the 6131 which is pretty much the same thing) but if you notice on the picture of it the front flip does not go all the way down to the base it stops a little ways up. If you don't turn the automatic keylock on this top flip can be pushed down and the inside buttons will be pushed. Also without locking the keys the camera can easily be turned on by accident. Hope that makes since. 🙂

I am thinking of exchanging for this phone would you answer a couple of questions for me? In the alert tones and tones does the tone 'cackle" appear and does "soulful" appear. I have not been able to find a working model to play with. Also can you use the voice recorder to record and set your own ringtone? Oh so it does have the automatic keylock that is good.
