Lets Try Something

I am in the market for a cell phone... but i noticed something about conversations i have had with any kiosk or store i've gone to..

When i am talking to a Representative about the downfalls of there service, while at there store or kiosk, I automatically get a rebuttal of how another service has larger downfalls.. my rebuttal is that i was talking about there service and standing there talking with them.. Not @ the competitors..

to me a situation like this is bad sportmanship.. can't we converse on a level that does not badger the competitors.. can people take a blow without pointing the finger.. or is this what it will always come down to...

try a new strategy is all i'm asking... when asked about your service, answer with your...

Isn't that the way all COMPETITORS compete for your dollars? I can't see anyone trying to sell you something by telling you their good and BAD points. Too much of a risk there. Since I'm not in sales, I can pretty much tell you the good and bad points about us (Cingular) but only on my region. Each region has their good and bad points.

the statement is not focused on the good and bad of your service... what i mean is can we make a presentation without changing subjects by throwing competitors out to dry.. i am not in the cellular industry at all.. just someone who teaches classes on sales strategies, therefore knowing the good and bad ways of presentation

I tell people the bad things about our network too so they don't come into my store and throw their phone at me in a few weeks. I'm slow and don't like having a bruised face... so instead I try to build a positive relationship with the customers. I have entire extended families that come in to my store for business, and other customers that will drive half an hour just to see me. Some may be gay, but most just like the service.

Cingular:

Cingular has a very good GSM network and hopefully if the merger goes through it will be the largest network in the US. GSM is a great technology, the quality of the call is very clear when the connection is made. In the High market areas (Mostly metro areas) Cingular is exceptional, and very rarely are the problems w/ coverage... In more isolated areas (rural & low market areas) the quality does deteriorate... Reason being that Cingular has exhausted most of it's efforts into providing exceptional service in the metro areas...
