I am considering switching from T-Mo to Cingular. Will I be able to roam internationally without paying a monthly fee?

As long as you have International Roaming put onto your account (it does NOT get put on as default) Then yes you can roam internationally. But it is rather expensive. Look here.

They do have a 'World Traveler' which is 5.99/month more which gives you discounted rates compared to if you just had International Roaming put on your account. You can see the differences at the URL above with the pulldown menu. It will give you prices for both.

please keep in mind you will not be qualified to add intl' roaming on your acct until you've been established w/ a good pymt history for 90 days, and there are a serious of things you must process to verify your identity first. please make sure that you are not assuming it will happen overnight. 🙂

Watch your ass though, check the website, call customer service, go into a store, then call texaswireless to make sure everything is in order. If everything still doesn't work after that be prepared to be called an idiot by every AT&T rep on phonescoop.

yes, but for lack of a better term you will be raped on the prices... with the 5.99 cingular world traveller option you will save a whole heck of a lot in most cases... What country specifically are you talking about?

Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering if I could roam for occasional use without a monthly fee. If I will be doing heavy calling I will get a prepaid SIM for the country I'm in. 🙂

Yep you can totally use your phone for minute rates listed by country, BUT if you are going to use a prepaid SIM make sure your phone is unlocked! Just sticking any old SIM in your phone will NOT work.

Hope this helps!
