I had previously wanted to get the N80 but I had read the lack of one or more bands would basically hamper its signal use in the states especially the Tri-State area where I'm from

So seeing the N95 just made me drool a little more lol

So My question is .. If I were to purchase a unlocked version of this phone would it work in the tri-state area (NJ) .. I know with some programing tweeks it can send SMS and MMS so thats not an issue

I have 3G in my area but if I go south I lose it .. I dont want a great phone I can make a call on

any help would be greatly appreicated

I would even give up my 8525 for this phone

While both the N80 and N95 are quadband phones(GSM.EDGE), the both lack US 3G bands,, so you would be stuck with EDGE no matter where you are..

You would not have had any issues with the N80. It and the N95 just dont have U.S. 3G

on the N80 .. wow I was told that due to the lack of (oh god forgive me for my lack of knowledge) the 850?? band .. that it wouldnt get signal in some areas

I dont really need/use the 3g so much .. I dont use my phone for the net so much .. I mainly use it for txt and a camera .. and the thought of a 5mp camera just blows my mind

N80 has 3MP, N95 has the 5MP, but they both suck. SE K790a is the best camera phone available. I dont care how many Megapixels Nokia puts in their phones, they still havent make one that matches up with the SE K790a and its 3.2MP.

N80 DOES have the 850 band, BTW.
