As a Cingular (the new at&t) WSC rep, I occasionally have to call a corporate store. Why the hell is it so hard to get a ****ing rep?! Their Automated machine comes from satan himself!! 👿
...
Just hit option 2... As soon as I hear the automated system pick up thats what I do... Other than that- it it none times out of ten the laziness of the reps in the store that they don't pick up the phone unfortunately. That has been my experience.

I do it 3-6 times. It's aggrivating!

if we are busy with customers who took time out of their day to come to the store youre damn right we wont answer da phone
...
There is always someone in the store not doing something.... (ie manager or assistant manager in the back that could answer the phone too.) I know that the store that I worked at people would just sit around when the phone rang and avoided it like the bubonic plague. I picked it up because you never know the opportunity that could arise from the incoming calls to a store, but not everyone thought the same way that I did.

We have two working in our store at all times. The phone will be silent while there aren't customers in the store. But the second people walk in...there goes the phone. I agree with the one poster though, people that take the time to come into the store get waited on first. You cannot buy a phone over the phone. We cannot run a credit application without verifying identification.

I work at an agent store and I don't answer the phone if I'm helping someone. Only if I'm not busy. It's rude to cut off the person I'm talking to in order to answer the phone.

Oh, I wish it were that simple! I work for an agent store, and the powers that be would have my head if I didn't answer the phone and it happened to be one of them. My management has their priorities seriously screwed up. If the phone rings, we have to excuse ourselves to answer. I feel like a child who didn't do their homework when I don't answer the phone even if it's due to something unavoidable like being in the bathroom! The best way to do it, to make everyone happy, is excuse yourself from your customer and tell the person on the phone that you're sorry for the inconvenience, but the store is very busy and they'll have to call back at a later time.

I'm with THE BOX, I don't get paid to answer the phone, i get paid to sell phones. I can't sell a phone over the phone. Not to mention in my store (me and THE BOX work together), most of the time we have people waiting anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to get to talk with us. So after they've waited so long, and some jackass wants to call in and ask what EVERY phone price is, or wants to know EVERYTHING there is to know about a plan (which happens ALL THE TIME), i'm not going to make the person that came down and waited 20 minutes to talk to me wait while I talk to someone on the phone that didn't want to take the time to come to the store. End of rant.
