upgrading to the 6230... please help!!!

I am right now in my 8th month of my contract, and I am having problems with my Nokia 6200, (I already did XBM) [I am paying for lockline, but was told that I would get the same refurbished 6200 as through XBM]

Now how could I get a Nokia 6230, I really want a new phone, and not the refurbished phone XBM sent me, (and lockline will not help me... as mentioned above since they are also giving out refurbished 6200's)

So does anybody know if it’s true that they will soon be giving out the Nokia 6230 under lockline (as a replacement for the 6200)?

And what is the cheapest I could get the 6230 for in my case... I am even willing to renew (but I don't think that will help me, since I am still 8 months into my contract)

How long is your contract? If it's One year you can upgrade one month early, or three months early on a 2 year.

1 year

[Cingular should have some trade-in program, that you get some type of store credit towards your new phone... and they could sell it as a refurb.. and/or use it for the prepaid program..]

uhhhh. no. Refurb phones sell for MORE than their brand new counterparts with a contract. There is no money in refurbished phones. They are used strictly for warranty or insurance replacements. It costs companies money to refurbish phones and we already spend more than enough money to get customers discounted equipment.

Well ATTWS sure advertises the hell out of refurbs on their website. I guess you guys will squash that?

They are selling those phones with CONTRACTS. Why would we sell a USED phone with a contract? I'm guessing it WILL be squashed.

I was told by a Cingular store rep that they never give out refurbished phones for warranty or replacement (but that Verizon and others do). Is that not true? Or is they just loaners?

Well that just kinda changed, we have tried to do without refurbs but it is cheaper to sell used phones to people in need but not eligible to upgrade (Say you bought a phone a month ago and did not put insurance on it, then dropped it in water) they would benefit a lot. And refurbs aren't always tainted just because they are previously used some people just turn them in, at the call center people show up at my desk all the time trying to find out if I have some phones to sell (but they know I take good care of mine) This month we were told refurbs are being put back in place and will probably start with the ATT refurb inventory, now after that is depleted....we may quit.

I would rather have a refurb v400 than a brand new C1300 myself.

Just ask lockline if you can pay the difference between the 6200 and 6230.

Well, I am not sure, I haven't made a claim in a year, but we used to be able to pay the diff betweeen retail prices of cource. Now everything is by mail, I think the bigger issue is they are tired of fraud but that doesn't mean they won't do it, but you have to ask lockline first then they can relay that info over to the equipment center.

no they really don't. They have a list that they can sub from, but they won't go that far with you. Plus the difference between you 50.00 deductible and a 300.00 phone is a little costly.

I know they have up to three phones to sub from, I mean actually pay the diff, and I don't mean in the 50.00, for instance if retail price is 199.99 for the 6200 and the retail is 299.99 for the 6230 then you would pay the 50.00 deductible and 100.00 for the difference in the phone. I have done it on several occasions with Eric t616 then Samsung s307.
