I know every one drooled over the announcement of the iphone...but as many of us Hardcore PDA users. Lack of a Removable Batter, and Lack of upgradeable memory, and not to mention the phone being 2G we werent impressed. We all should have known microsoft wasn't going to let apple win. next-gen, high-bandwidth capable phone, 4G network based on the IEEE 802.16e mobile WiMax standard, download speeds of up to 2Mbps, fast enough for the Xbox-to-Zune streaming. Microsoft's patent application -- filed June 16th of last year -- is for a dynamic tiled interface for "improved user interface for mobile devices such as smartphones" and "personal digital assistants And the best for last...its coming 2 SPRINT probably exclusively since no one else will ...

Man. The lack of Removable Batter on the iphone is a deal breaker for me. That just has the potential to get messy, and runny. π

how do you know it won't have a removable battery? Also keep in mind, a Zune is made by the same company that made Winblows...........
...
yes,but the zune is twice the device that any ipod has ever been. mostly because you can sync it to windows media player and put full leangth DVDS on them. I realize you can do the same thing to an ipod if you want to, but its not as easy. microsoft also spits at apples NO DISCOUNT for anybody policy.
On another note when do you think they will make stereo bt mp3 players available? Its just stupid that they haven't done it yet. An ipod with stereo bt would open so many more doors. Bt in general would be a nice idea. Or even GPS? telenav or garman would be great on a device like that. Add a phone and you've got your all-in-one device that will outsell everything.
plain and simple we know mac can create a better os and better...

the app you have spoke of would only sell to geeks like us right now let the rest of the country catch up then we will see those things on an ipod

the only people who buy PDA's either need those apps or are "geeks" like you so eliquintley put it. Being able to load videos shot in other file formats not just itunes is a must for certain types of business people. and like I said before with windows its just easier. Not to mention being able to change PDF's, word documents, and excel spreadsheets is nice and easily done with microsoft apps. I am a manager, and being able to make, edit, and print excel documents from my phone is extremely efficient. Not to metion easy. you can have your resume or any other word doc. on your phone. You can edit it then fax it or email it if needed all with simple opperations. I'm sure such things will be achievable on the iphone as well, just not as easy. I...

Historically, Apple devices have been more user friendly than Windows devices. There is more software written for PCs, because they dominate the market share. Compatibility hasn't been an issue for Apple in a long time, and with their recent change to intel chips it's even less of one.

no removable battery was announced at the keynote...and you can google it if you want if you dont believe. I myself am a ps3 owner but the xbox 360 is very similar graphics wize. But this zune phone being 4g will be the deal winner.
...
The iPhone does not have a removable battery, Keovani is correct. The PS3s graphics are MUCH better than the 360, but for the price I still went with the 360.
I'm not an iPhone fan, as there are phones that do more and cost less, even though I'm an Apple fan. The Zune did not take off. They wanted it to be an iPod killer, and it wasn't. Saying the Zune phone will be an iPhone killer is equally as unlikely.
I'm more interested in seeing what the 2nd and 3rd generation iPhones will be. Even a 2nd or 3rd generation Microsoft would be better than the first, but Microsoft operating systems are infinitely more buggy.

Resistance: Fall of Man is such a kick ass game.

That's what I hear. I'll probably get one as soon as they drop the price, and they'll have to drop it if they want to get rid of their existing inventory.

yeah off topic RFOM is mos def the best game out i beat it now im playin it again on Hard...its like a HALO but there are no other good games out for the ps3 now which really suks

Motorstorm is fun as hell.

My girlfriend has a Wii. They're fun for a while, but after a month or so, the wow factor goes away. I don't like it so much any more. I'm looking forward to Metroid, but that's about it.
...
I love my wii. I only have a few games for it, but most of them are my "drunk games". Yes, I get drunk and then play Nintendo.
I'm looking forward to Guitar Hero 3, which has already been announced for a debut on the Wii.
...
It's definitely a great system for some people. I don't think it's as much fun as my PS3 though.
...
I think they target totally different types of players. The Wii is definitely it when you're playing party games (multiple people on one tv) and the other two systems for RPGs and shooters.
...
With the story and everything, it's probably the best FPS I've ever played. Half-Life might beat it, but I can't think of anything else.
...
If you can't remove the battery then how in the world will you put your SIM card in it?
...
There's prob a slot on the side DUH. Just like incerting a memory card into a phone. Not all simcards are behind the battery.
...
I have seen pics of the phone and I've never seen any 'slot'

woo hoo, too bad sprint will be bankrupt by then. and i'm pretty sure people aren't buying it because they want super fast data speeds. It is going to be a status symbol.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask: Did you *just* discover the internet? Do you believe everything you read? π
The interface patents that Gizmodo & Engadget mobile refer to are *potential* interfaces to a possible phone device. It may be a Zune phone, yes, but it also may be a new skin for WM6, or something else entirely. There's nothing even close to an explanation as to what device that interface is heading towards.
And did you read anything other than the title of the crunchgear article? It's almost entirely speculation! If the Zune phone was official back on February 9th (when that article came out), than don't you think that maybe we'd have heard about it a little since then?
You, my friend, need a serious dose of...

Thats bull "japhy" you narrow credibility list "boy genius" aren't the only ones with actual concept to production reports. the report on engadget and crunch gear seem pretty credible. Secondly Why would Microsoft create a new interface for a phone after releasing windows Mobile 6???? This interface is clearly for a next generation phone aside from the Windows Mobile series. A+B=C If you cant think af another explanation of this zune phone you tell me. but so far its me crunchgear and engadget agains your skepticism based on nothing. but the fact that Phonescoop and Boy genius hasn't reported it. And for the record All phonescoop stories are posted months after Engadget. So i say you do research on your sources!

I wasn't saying it definitively isn't for the Zune phone, but no one is saying anything official.
Your speculation isn't bad, but it's just that: speculation. There's been no announcement from Microsoft, there's been no announcement from Sprint. There isn't even confirmation that there ever will be a Zune phone available to the public (regardless of it's alleged development). And while Sprint's Wimax network will surely be a kickass new standard of technology when it's up & running, it's just on paper & in the lab at the moment. You don't even have a blurry shot of a prototype. There's a patent filing that could support your conclusion, but nothing more.
I dunno why you seem to think that A + B definitively = C...

Granted yes engadget gizmodo do publish a lot of speculations theories and concept phones. But several about 7/10 they do come to production. hence the 755 they published the ppc 6800 and the tmobile wing. So in my eyes their pretty good. Like before the iphone was just a speculation rumors started 2years before even the keynote..but here it is for production in late june. So ill agree with you that its not 100% official and official prob wasn't the best choice of wordβ¦but its damn near close.

Hey, at least I followed correct rules of prefixes & suffixes! And despite using a neologism that isn't actually in the dictionary, you understood what I meant. π

Well, the device may indeed be coming in a year or two.. there are a few things that hurt its chances of success being and iPhone killer" or even successful.
1. Its on Sprint
2 Widespread WiMax is probably 2 years away
3. Not many people know what a "zoon" is..
4. By the time this rolls out the iPhone will be on rev 2 or 3 or 4 and will be at least HSDPA which by that point will be faster than wiMax anyways..with waaaay more coverage.. not to mention will be as much a part of the collective psyche as Coke or Pepsi.... well at least in the Blue states.. π
Again, I am sure it will have its fans and will probaby be lose MS money for a couple years but probably do OK..
...
Questions:
When's the last time Microsoft made a "better" product than Apple?
When's the last time Sprint rolled out a phone that caused people to jump ship from Verizon/T-Mobile/Cingular?
When's the last time anyone even cared about an exclusive Sprint phone?
Just wondering.....

So your basing your projections on an operating system that that came out in 1995? Wow, good luck with that one. You might want to buy some stock in Sprint, I hear you can get it pretty cheap now.
Tell me, how many net subscriber gains did Sprint gain from those phones? Thats what i thought.

Wow, what are you - fifteen years old? Its not a competition - I was simply responding to your thread. If you feel that going off of something that is 12 years gone and by is a good strategy, then yes, you have me beaten - congratulations! π π π

Even if this "Zune Phone" comes to pass, the impact is going to be minimal because honestly, the number of people going gaga for the iPhone probably will not end up with it. Instead many will go for a SmartPhone or a Blackjack / Blackberry.
The importance of the iPhone is not going to be in it's own sales, but in getting attnetion for AT&T / Cingular's line.

thats one of the most sensible answers ive heard so far..and as a marketer Kudos..because your right...
