Does anyone know if V400 is unlocked from cingular or no. I am looking for a phone with BT and Speakerphone v400 has speakerphone ??

v400 is awesome reception wise. it does not have BT though, so you may want to wait for the V551.

from cingular the phone is unlocked, same as the v600, and v220.

depends who it is branded from. If it is cingular branded it will be unlocked for sure. No one is dumb enough to lock an unlocked phone =]. but if it is not branded means it came direct from motorola, and it also unlocked. im not sure about other companies though, maybe someone else could help me out.

Should be unlocked. since that phone is quad band, by nature it should be unlocked, but it all depends on the software that is put on it. if it is straight from moto unbranded, then it would be unlocked, but if it was carrier branded you run the risk of it being locked, although unlikely.
make sure you know the return policy of amazon if it is not unlocked just in case.

well if all else fails and it comes locked it takes just an imei, and carrier to get the phone unlocked.

you can use the phone, but you will need a new sim, but can't get a cingular plan. in order to get a cingular plan you must get a new phone.

Well let's just say this, we were able to put an ATTWS sim in the Cingular v400 and it worked. As far as any others, not sure.
