Why do people still like the Razr?

I really just don't get it. The Motorola Razr has been out for what..something like 5 years now? In the world of technology, that makes it an antique. I personally never cared for it from day one. I never liked the width and style. Sure, it's nice and thin. But the width makes it look like a huge leap backwards. It reminds me of an old analog Motorola Piper flip-phone that I had back in the '90s. I realize that it's a personal preference thing and there are many people who like it. But why in the world does Motorola keep updating this same tired old design? I remember when the Razr was the cool new phone to have. Now, it seems like EVERYONE has one (plus 3 older out-dated versions at home in a drawer). When I shop for a phone, my...

Then here is a question for you. I have a razr v3i and looking to get a different phone. I am also tired of the razr craze. What type of phone would your recommend to purchase? ๐Ÿคจ

It all depends. What are you looking for in a phone?

That depends on a few things. What features do you want? What form-factor do you like (flip-phone, candy bar, slider..etc.). I personally have the Sony Ericsson W300i and I love it. It does everything I need a phone to do, and it does them VERY well. My original post wasn't to promote any other phone. I'm just baffled by the Razr's popularity for so long.

That was understandable not to promote any other phone. I was just asking for opinions. As stated I have the razr v3i. So I like the flip style, but was leaning toward maybe a slider or candy bar style. I do not use the MP3 Player on the phone nor do I use the camera that often. I like that I have to option of the mp3 player and the camera. But was just curious on what others thought. ๐Ÿ˜

I can HIGHLY recommend NOT getting a Razr! I had one through TMobile and just about everytime I needed to make a call, no signal and if I was in the middle of a call, it got dropped. I know, some of you out there are probably thinking, "Well, it was just the network", but I highly doubt that. A few of my friends had Samsung phones and they were always chatting away on them and they were with TMobile.

I talked my dad out of getting a Razr with CellOne and he asked me why and I told him that it's got a lousy piece of crap internal antenna that would barely get signal anywhere. I did however talk him into getting a Moto V557 and he and my mom are extremely pleased with it. Even the people at the CellOne store didn't recommend...

The v3xx is a RAZR and it rates among the best in reception across Cingular's lineup. I have relatives that use Cingular in my area with the SYNC, CU500, RAZR v3 and some older Sony Ericsson phones. The only phones that comes close to the v3xx in call quality and reception are the SEs and the v3.

I honestly think that you're instance was a rare case.

And as far as suggesting that consumers read the reviews before purchasing a RAZR, the v3xx is the second highest rated phone among the Cingular handsets.

LOL...you sound like me. I almost never use the camera or MP3 player either. My son has the same phone as me and he uses the MP3 player all the time. He says it ROCKS!! My main requirement for a phone is good reception. I chose the Sony because it does very well with that and it has amazing battery li...

The w810i is the best phone out...i do prefer a flip myself, and i prefer 3G, unless your looking for a data device, the v3xx is the best phone out right now, yes it's still in the razr style, but it does everything it's supposed to....if you wait until next month the N75 could possibly be coming out as well as the Samsung A717, although no one knows much about the A717...

They like it for the same reason people like Verizon.

Marketing.

Both Motorola and Verizon are very good at making people want what they have.

My theory is that people are stupid. But the main reason is that when the razr first came out it was $500 and it was a status symbol. People still have that original price engrained into their puny brains and still think the razr is a status symbol making them someone they are not.
