Not going to happen........ US customers want everything for free..... getting them to spend the $$ on this is a long shot at best
...
all it would need is data service, right? (I can't link to the article. firewalls)
...
and a new phone.... i dont think our unlimited data has this in mind... too much tress on the system, but I could be wrong
...
The SIM cards were the first step in video calling. Isn't the 500v going to be the first video calling phone? I think the MEdia net plans could handle the video calling. It's the uplink speed that will really be the bottleneck.
...
I just talked to management here, apparently, the testing didnt go as planned, and the project is "on hold"
...
I was told it was one way only. So one phone could send but not recieve and vise versa. That and they will require media max plans like Cingular Video(think they will change the name).
...
Don't they offer this overseas but noone wants it? Seems like a fairly useless thing.. its not like a video conference call where you have multiple people on screen.. Moto offers a video calling device for home and while the performance is ok.. it never sold..
I think this is more of a "hey look what we can do" rather than what people want... I mean... is any clamoring for this?
...
Sure, little girls that want to send their boyfriends special messages at night. Other than that, no.
...
That's why I want it!
...
There will be a market for it. Think about it....the picture messaging the video messaging..why not just show it live to the person...
...
I think this will sell...americans want whats new..and this will be new…futuristic per se...the only reason the video land line didnt work..but i think in the mobile industry it will be a hit.

"Nope, we didn't screw up the image here -- the LG CU500v is, for all practical purposes, identical to the older CU500, save for the critical detail that the CU500v's firmware supports Video Share. We can basically think of the new feature as a poor man's video calling; video is transmitted only one way during calls, though callers with compatible handsets can switch direction mid-call. Rumor has it AT&T intends to launch true video calling along with its HSUPA network, but for the time being, this is as good as it gets. The good news? With...

The 8525 was intended to support Video Call (or Cingular's Video Share) but Cingular asked to have the second camera removed due to this feature not being fully developed... There may be another version of it 8525v??? that will support video share...

Well eraser..u really know ur stuff thanx 4 the correction.

I think Nokia has a line up of video conference capable phones as well. I have seen unlocked N-series phones with dual cameras.
...
See im hearing these rumors as well...and that nokia will be heavy in the video calling industry but for sprints wimax service.

You could probably do it with a razor.
If anyone has noticed, you can do two things with a razor, speaker phone with the clamshell closed, I do it all the time when it is going to be a long call, and am working, and do not want to hold it I put it down closed on the table.
And taking a picture, yes you do not have to stand in front of a mirror, you can hit the camera button then close the clamshell, and look at the outside screen to see how the pic looks, I am sure if they blended these two fetures together, you could video call
...
Possibly, but the original razor didn't offer the data speeds nessesary. On the V3xx and you can no longer do speaker phone with the phone closed. Same thing with the Krazor. So if moto were to do a razor with streaming video calling it would have to be a new model all together.

I think when Att will offer video calling, moto will finally release its Motorola A1000 video phone already so popular in the european markets.
