Will Cingular let you sign a new contract before your eligibility period and get a new phone at the promotional price?

technically... no, but it still happens. Customer service can be little ****ies and approve an exception or fudge a standard upgrade so it's a month early.

This guy just came in here with a phone that wasn't working anymore. I asked him if he had insurance so he can file a claim. He told me he did, so I gave him the number to call. He then asks me to check his eligibility date, so I do, and it says he's not eligible until August. His friend then says, "See? You should just switch to Cingular. That's why I left Verizon. Cingular will let you upgrade whenever you want." I told him that was an outright lie. He's not my customer, I could give two sh*ts if I upset him. He insisted he knew what he was talking about. 🙄

I figured that's what was going on. If he comes back tell him a Cingular rep called him a liar too.

If he has high ARPU or is adding a boatload of features, then there is a good chance it can be done

🤣 Nice one.

Features don't play into upgrades for us though. ARPU will matter if they're going to make an exception and smooch your booty over the phone. If your monthly bill (on a single line) is also over $75 a month they'll let you do it yearly. Normally, they do nothing if it's under a year.
