DirectBill Charges???

Just got my first Cingular bill (combined billing through SBC), and sorting through all the charges.

Under my 2nd line (FT Plan) for Other Charges and Credits, I see 2 charges for DirectBill Charges--one for $3.99 and the other for $1.99. This/These charge(s) do not appear for the other FT (main billing) line.

These charges appear with the Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee and the Service Est. Fee (One-time activation).

I can't use Cingular.com to look at My Account minutes (won't let me in) and I have to use the Combined Billing option, which tells me next to nothing on total charges.

Does anyone know what these charges are for? Under the Monthly Service Charges (both FT lines), Cingular DirectBill is shown with $0.

It was my un...

DirectBill is/are charges for downloaded content which was purchased from cingular.com. $1.99 is probably a ringtone and the $3.99 could be a really popular ringtone, or a small game. It only shows on one line because the content was loaded to that phone, from that phone number.

Yup!

Assuming the Cingular.com website is working correctly in your market, you can also log onto it to see the exact details of each download. I think it says that on the bill somewhere... like page 430 sub section 3 for other charges and then detailed charges and then the taxable fee section... stupid bills.

Well, SBC has the most complicated billings I've ever seen; and that's from being with them for almost 30 years😁 But I make a point of fine-tooth combing them every month because sometimes there are errors. πŸ˜‰

Not really ...
What happened to me is that I got the same DirectBill charges of 3.99 for 2 months now even that I did not ordered any stuff with my phone.

I logged on my DirectBill account and I could see these auto-renewal mapquest subscriptions charges coming every month since May, even that I only have the Cingular account since October !!!

What I guess happened was that the previous owner of the phone number ordered these things and when they transfer the number to me I inherited these charges as well.

They however don't show on your bill immediatly, they only start showing up once you activate/register your DirectBill account.

Cingular should refund these charges to you if you did not ordered these things, they have a bug...
