This is an old article, but extremely informative. I knew the basics of what had happened with AT&T Wireless but I never knew specifics. If you've got some time to kill give this a read and check out the cool diagrams they have.

Some really good history.

Great article, especially since the att name is back. It kinda shows why they choose the att name... although I'm still shocked because of the amount of money spent to build up the cingular name to where it is...

thats a good article. I would want one that wraps everything up to today for the post merger and re merger if you could call it that.

I always think of this every time I heard 'AT&T Wireless failed because they gave too many credits' or before that 'the company is losing money because we're giving too many credits'. The little trip down memory lane is always good for a little burst of righteous anger.

For some reason this really irritates me.

"Foremost among them may be Zeglis himself. He will get $21.7 million."

From what it sounds like Zeglis got $21.7 million for effectively running a efficient company into the ground! He should have had to pay for the loss in income that stock holders accrued do to his bad decisions rather than bank off of it. 🙄

All in all a good article thanks for posting it!

That isn't the reward I'd give him, for sure. But corporate management is a... funny business.

That only became an issue after the merger itself.

Got another good bit of 'suggested reading', this focussing on technical/IT aspects where AWS's management failed.
