This is an old article, but extremely informative. I knew the basics of what had happened with AT&T Wireless but I never knew specifics. If you've got some time to kill give this a read and check out the cool diagrams they have.

From what it sounds like Zeglis got $21.7 million for effectively running a efficient company into the ground! He should have had to pay for the loss in income that stock holders accrued do to his bad decisions rather than bank off of it. 🙄

That only became an issue after the merger itself.
