Cingular employment?

Justin RS

Oct 18, 2004, 1:23 PM
For a while now, I have had my eyes set on working for Cingular. I currently work for Radio Shack, where we do offer cingular phones. I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions for me. 🙂

What is the age requirement to work for Cingular?

What positions other than sales are there? The stores around here close amazingly early. I believe 7pm is the latest they stay open.

Who would I contact about getting a job?

I work for AWS and as you can imagine, we've a TON of rumors.

One I'd like to ask about is whether or not Cingular has 24/7 customer service here in the U.S., meaning are there Cingular call centers here in the U.S. that are open 24/7?

Thanks...

I wish we had a 24/7 call center. is ATT call centers 24/7? Maybe we will go 24/7 after that. But as far as our markets go we are 7 - 9..

That's crazy. I work for AWS and I really couldn't imaging a Care not being open all night and all day. I also heard Cingular care is closed on Sundays? Is that true? I hope after the merger it goes to 24/7.

hey, with customer care closed on sundays, that means you get at least one weekend day free, and its just nice having ONE set day off... and its your preference (within reason) when the other day is...

not to mention... tier 2 is open 24/7.

AWS is 24/7. There are some direct centers that are 24/7, but we also outsource here in the US and Canada that help make up the 24/7 status as well.

My center in particular is only open till 1am Central and just recently started to be open on Sundays (customer care).

It's my opinion (which doesn't always count for anything....just ask my wife) that with the combination of both customer bases (40+ million customers) you almost have to have 24/7 support. Which centers will be effected, who knows? But with Cingular not outsourcing in the U.S. due to union reasons, and that probably not going to change anytime soon, I figure that those larger centers just might go 24/7. I guess we'll see soon enough.

Well in our center which is outsoucred from convergys, we are open 7 days a weeks till 3:15 am Atlantic time or 2:15 eastern time for other people

Now our center is the largest in North America, we have almost 1800 people working in ours as reps, we are doing their(AWS) care but its a transition because they know realistically all 21 million aws customers are not going to switch to cingular plans or change carriers so a large chunk maybe 3/4 will stay at least 1 year on their att plans but will migrate eventually when they need an upgradeof either plan or phone

Well....Cingular is outsourcing in the us. I don't get to be part of the Union, and I don't think I get any discounts on Cingular service, like ATT gives West employees, but they did give us a bunch of free crap for Customer service week.

That orange lunchbox is awesome. And the coffee cup. Bwahaha.

Our center is open 6 to 12 I do believe, but we don't come in on Sunday since Cingular CS is closed then. We also usually go home at 9, since that is when Cingular CS is supposed to close in our area. (The IVR says 9 your local time.

We got a water bottle, a coffee cup, y'know one of the screw top ones, a notepad, the lunchbox, an umbrella, and like...one other thing. I forgot what it was. But that lunchbox is frickin' awesome.

Heh. We need more stuff! =D
