I have verizon now but really want to purchase the Blackberry Pearl, which only Cingular and T-Mobile offer. Just wondering from you guys how the service and the phone are? Is it worth switching? And anything other info you think would help me choose..

Thanks in advance 🙂

T-mobile will have cheaper calling plans, but our coverage area is much larger. We have more cell sites than any other carrier - it's a fact.

We have the red pearl and the black one, and we also just started our BlackBerry Personal plan which is only 29.99 for unlimited internet and personal blackberry e-mail (no enterprise). We also have Rollover minutes and a 30 day trial period to test our network and see how it treats you.

Only the Cingular pearl has Push-to-Talk as well, if that was something you were interested in.

Try us out.

Also some markets are offering a $50 switcher rebate - a $50 mail in rebate just for bringing your number over from another company. I will also say if you have had Verizon and are used to their coverage, the only other comparable company is AT&T/Cingular.

You will not find the coverage matched with T-mobile to Verizon.

Ash stfu.

Have you personally takin A tmobile, verizon, cingular, sprint, and alltel phone with you around the entire country and checked coverage?

Service is going to be different depending on where you live in some markets tmobile is actaully rated number 1.

so just stop talking

And what market is that? I don't have T-mobile, Sprint Verizon or Alltel. I don't need to have them to know the facts that AT&T has the most cell sites in the country. It's a f***ing fact.

Don't try and bash me. If you think T-mobile is number 1 in a market you find out what market that is, back it up with a source and come back and post it.

Until then,

Having more cell cites doesnt mean there is better coverage overall... without knowing where the OP lives you have no way to know AT&T has better coverage in his area.

I didn't know they had a trial period. How does that work? Do I have to sign any contract or pay anything up front?

All the carriers have a least some sort of trial period. Cingulars is 30 days. The only thing you'll pay for upfront is the phone. And if you cancel before 30 days is up the only thing you'll be charged for is the usage for the period the phone was active.

IN most carriers the trial period DOES require you to sign a contract, but they tell you upfront that you may cancel with NO cancellation fee within X amount of days.....at T-Mobile the trial period is 14 days everywhere besides CA where it is 30 days. Go California! 🤣

i also have a question. i currently have the black pearl.

does the 29.99 blackberry internet plan have any text messages included?

and will I be able to link my school email address so that I can check my email from my phone?

No...texting plans are seperate at Cingular......

You shouldn't have any problem registering your school email address to your blackberry.

I would try out T-Mobile for a couple of weeks to see how it works out for you. If you're not planning on traveling to very obscure areas, then you really shouldn't expect to have any coverage issues.....The plans and internet plans are dramatically less expensive at T-Mobile....for example Cingular's unlimited internet plan for the BB is $30 whereas at T-Moble it's $20.......

By then The Curve will be out. The CDMA version won't be global* And it won't be PTT either... It will suck!

*I need to confirm that

Just wondering, what part of the pearl makes you want it?
Just asking as the pearl is an inferior BB, but has a camera on it. If you want to go with GSM I would suggest looking into a BB 8800, as it is a much better device. Longer battery life, larger screen, full keyboard and only .3 inches taller and .6 inches wider.
