Sonyericsson

Does anyone know if Sonyericsson is going to have US versions of W910 and P990, with the 850 band?

Even their Pli, yet to be released PDA phone will not have the 850. Not having 850 band means 50% reduction of signal strength in my area.

I am tired of my treo 680 crashing when I answer call. I replaced it once already.

to answer your other question i dont know it seems unlikely as the euro carries get to awesome phones because most american carriers/customers are to budget savy* to spend money for those type of phones.

we can all thank the apple and the ipod for that though. not any phone ever sold in america.

sad thing is if it was a nokia phone of like features revealed at ces it would of buzzed for that week and fizzed out. only not to be purchased because it doesnt have snazzy company x's brand on it.

take early phones that featured mp3 players as example. there were quite a few launched before the craptastic rokr. but you couldnt tell customer y it wasnt an "ipod phone". when right next to it in the store were phones of better quality such as the 6682, or the s710. a good bit of my customers didnt even know the phone was a motorola until their receipt was printed out.

im starting to feel sorry for the poor 8525 already. if people only knew s...

I have an antique Ericsson T39 without 850 that works perfectly fine everywhere I go in the US, so you might want to buy those phones unlocked anyway.

Supposedly bad reception with that missing bandwidth is just another myth that US carriers created to bully consumers into buying their branded phones.

Not true.

A customer bought a triband phone (without the 850 band), and she lasted a total of 4 days before coming in and buying a "carrier" phone while returning the phone she bought to the website (or wherever) she got it.

Most metro areas use the 850 band for Cingular. If ur in a rural area, you'll probably be ok.
