Switching Numbers When Upgrading Phones

I just bought the Sync from the website. One of the lines on my Family plan was eligible for an upgrade, so I used the upgrade to get the discounted price. The eligible line isn't my own line though.

I'm not familiar with how 3G works as far as SIM cards and all that, so I was wondering if I would be able to just put MY SIM card into the new phone. Are there components in the phone that are pre-programmed by AT&T specifically for the line I purchased the phone for?

Please, just swap the SIM cards.

I've seen CS do some STUPID things with SIM cards lately when customers call in that ends up burning one or both of the cards. It's in your own best interest if you do it yourself. Unless you're using a lot of data on one of the devices, you probably won't notice any different.

I think the SIM card in my current phone is 3G anyway, although the phone is not 3G. So there won't be any difference at all, will there?

Nope, you should be perfectly fine if they're bot 3G SIM cards.

No... it doesn't. Buying a phone this month and swapping the number doesn't mean you magically bought it last year. If you had to make an insurance or warranty claim, you just give them the number that device is on file under.

Agreement w/ Ralph... swap out the SIM cards. Make sure it's on all the way and you're all set.
