I remember reading about this somewhere, but I don't recall where. Here it is.....

If you live in an area with poor signal that there is a device to hook to your broadband connection. Almost like having your own tower in your house. If anybody knows of any articles about this please let me know. I have looked in the news section for 2007 but didn't find it so I don't know where I have seen it...

Thanks in advance.

If I remember right a repeater doesn't use an internet connection this did. Maybe it was (or is) in the developmental stages yet..

T-Mobile is in trials with it right now, and it's been mentioned as a potential technology for other carriers, but it's not very widespread yet.

I think I remember something about that, but it was something CDMA only, something Samsung came up with that could only be accessed by 5 phones at a time. . . or maybe I'm getting stuff mixed up in my head.

Whatever, 8 minutes until 3 day weekend! 😁

CDMA would be OK cause the friends of mine live in an area that is mostly all there is..

you are right.

UMA is a fantastic technology it basically runs your cell phone service through a wlan connection. when you leave your house it seamlessly transitions into the cellular network.

t-mobile trialed it in seattle with excellent results and is releasing it in select markets very soon.

It is ONLY available on t-mobile for now and requires a device to hook up to the LAN and a monthly subscription fee.
