I have a Audiovox CDM-9900 from Verizon. Do any of you know if these new generation of phones can send pictures and video across different carriers to friends with similar phones? And by the way: Hello Phone-Pimp where ever you are.

No phone companies can hand off media messages (video/photos) to another. AWE and Cingular were able to after the carriers worked out how to. Currently texts messages are handed off to a third party company which manages handing it off between carriers, and nothing is in place for media right now. You could pass on photos and videos via bluetooth (if you have it and Verizon didn't cripple it on your phone), but you cannot send over the air. If their system is like ours, they'll receive a text message directing them to a website where they can view the image.

I don't see why people have a problem with e-mailing the picture. If someone has a different carrier, send it to their e-mail address instead, and they can check it on the computer.

And with the exception of Verizon and Sprint, then they can just email it to their phone... I know it works for Cingular/ATT and TMobile...
