vinnyfrancisco

Jun 9, 2007, 5:14 PM
okay im on the cingy website and i see a plan for 19.99 and thats a "smart phone" plan. it has unlimited internet. then theres a plan for 45 bucks..and thats a data connect plan. now for my question..if i get a blackjack(love that phone) would i need the smart phone plan or the data connect plan? i wanted a blackberry but no way am i paying 75 dollars a month on top of the 106 dollar family plan! oh another thing. does anyone know if i would get service in puerto rico? im going on vacation the 22nd (st thomas st juan i dont remember where else the cruise goes)

75 dollars? Thats not right, for the blackberry plan its $29.99 unlimited email and internet on top of your rate plan. the blackjack requires the 39.99 pda connect plan. yes you will ahve service in puerto rico, cingular has a network there so there is no roaming. are you cruising thru carnival? i just got back from a cruise to there just recenetly! good times...

Yes it would. Im not a big fan of windows mobile phones, with my blackjack, i had to powercycle at least once a day because it would give me problems. The only thing is all the Blackberry's are 2G, the BlackJack is 3G. So if you want to take advantage of our 3G network for faster internet go with the Blackjack. I brought my Blackjack with me to Miami when I went on my cruise so I could use 3G, Puerto Rico has 3G too.

well im in the middle of the woods Pennsylvania we don't have 3g. we just got decent reception maybe a year ago.

But yea im defiantly going with a curve or pearl now. I like the design of the peal but the key pad looks like it would be difficult to type on?

I just need a phone with decent internet service because no way am i going to pay 50 cents a minute in the internet cafe on the ship..or of course theres the 100 dollar for 150 minute plan....um no.

Oh is the txting plans the same for blackberry? I think I have the 250 messages a month now.. thats plenty for me.

And Im on a family plan. Would my monthly service rate (voice plan) change too?

off subject but funny..my last cruise to the Bahamas I was on the phone every ...

Go with a curve full the qwerty keyboard. I'm not a big fan of the pearls keyboard. The curve definitly shows promise though...

the curve is brand new, but i've been using it since it came out and it's a great phone. The battery life is also MUCH better than you'll get from the BlackJack.

I have the pearl rite now, its one sexy phone.

And the typing on the Pearl isnt as bad as people claim it to be. It has "SureType" so it fixes a lot of what u type and corrects it. Basically, you just type normally, and it will lead u to the right word.

Also, the Pearl features autotext so that the phone adapts to words that you use regularly, and adjusts your typing accordingly.

From someone who went from a Se w810i to a Pearl, its a good move. The only thing i miss, is the multimedia capabilities of the sony ericsson.

so basically its like typing with T9 (which i hate) well right now the curve and pearl are the same price..and being the curve has a better key pad im thinking im going to go with the curve..because one of the big reasons I want a blackberry is for the key pad so I want the best one. As for the multimedia features of the w810..i can live with out them. thats what my ipod is for. the camera is good as a back up..but id rather use my 6mp hp camera.

If you have it, it would have to be market specific.

The new rebate form for our market (June 6ish) says you need the $19.99 Messaging Xtreme Plan plus Voice of $39.99 or higher, or a PDA Personal Plan or a $39.99 or higher unlimited data rate plan. The PDA Personal Plan is a new addendum to the rebate forms, and by that wording the $29.99 plan would make it eligible, however, that's only a 20MB package in the Central regions. The feature is PDPA.

I think the feature that BOX is talking about is market specific to his region. Rumors from both inside and out (i think boy genius has an article on it) were that at&t would reduce the price of the PDA connect unlimited to 29.99. In the NYC/PHilly market they have come out with a PDA Per plan that includes unlimited PDA connect with 1500 messages - the cost - 39.99. But the standard PDA connect still also costs 39.99 - makes sense doesn't it? Anyways, with the rollout of the 39.99 plan w/ 1500 messages, it just makes sense that sooner or later they will rollout a 29.99 PDA connect unlimited. Just like with the other packages, the 39.99 would be the unlimited plus $10 extra for 1500 messages. Just my two cents....

No, I'm talking about the PDA connect. Right now, as far as i know, it is only in the NYC/Philly markets, but there is a plan with unlimited PDA connect and 1500 messages for 39.99, yet the standard PDA connect w/ no messaging is also 39.99.

The Code that shows on the customer's bill is PDA39, while the standard PDA Connect w/o messaging shows as PDAUNL on a customer's bill.

PDVU pda connect is going away in a week

most likely the pda plans will mirror the bb plans

pdph = pda max- 39.99 unl data + 1500 msg

pdvu = pda connect - 39.99 unl data- no text.

pointless...

also unlimited data and text pda and bb plans roll out next week
