Does the blackberry require a BB conect plan?
If I got a curve as a backup or as part of my selection would I have to change my data plan? (I currently have the Data connect plan)

Only if you wanted to use the internet. Cingular doesn't control this. This is through the blackberry server, and the only way that you can use their internet, is to have their internet plan. If you just want to use the phone. Then your cool. It sux...but theres nothing you can do about that one....
