GSM Carrier Display
I just Recently got cingular (att) And my Display says AT&T But My mom who also has ATT says Cingular still. Now I was thinking maybe this was because the tower at her house is still sending out cingular.
But when i am visiting mine will still say AT$T. So Is this because AT$T (cingy) is Programed this into my sim card?
I thought the Carrier can change the name of the display from the tower?

They can.. but with the AT&T tag, it seems like it's connected to a few things. My tag kept saying Cingular until I changed my call back tone. Then it changed to AT&T.

It seems They should have went with the name AT&T Wireless, The whole name just AT&T Seems it may get confusing, considering the company offers more than one service.

i think it would be even more confusing because there are STILL AT&T wireless customers(blue) who havent converted over to at&t yet(cingular)

Oh No, that would be really bad. I personally think they chould keep there wireless division as Cingular or at least att Wireless.

they advertise it as at&t becuase wireless is their biggest investment now. at&t as a company can advertise under one name and save about 2 billion a year.

Now it's wireless from at&t. AT&T Wirless and AT&T were separate companies. We don't want to give that impression again. We're at&t.

Correct, Just saying the name AT&T Alone Can me misleading. It's easier to say att wireless that wirless from att. kinda sounds better too. Or they can just stick with cingular wireless.

yeah, wireless from at&t is more of a mouthful, but it does make more sense and will help confuse people less. This is already giving our customers nightmares.

and to answer the question, as of recent all new activations or upgrades or sim changes will have the new alpha tag (at&t) programmed in, existing customers will be sent updates later.
