confused - at&t doing 1 year upgrades??

Sorry, I've been busy with school & haven't had time to read all the threads in here regarding upgrades.

Anyways, the website says I'm available for an upgrade. I don't want to do a 2 year though. I'd like to just do a 1 year.

Anyone know the upgrade price of a w810 on a 1 year if I'm able to do it?

Thanks in advance!

From what I know there are no 1 year contracts anymore especially on upgrades. Atleast it is that way in my market. You're better off buying the w810 unlocked off the internet and not extending your contract. The unlocked version doesn't have that crappy media net button.

I agree. Keep your plan and buy the phones seperately. Actually if everyone did this phone prices would drop and carries would have no way of knowing their income stream and would offer much better incentives to sign a contract then a phone you can buy for the same money in 6 months off Ebay as the "upgrade" price.

I bet at&t would LOVE to stop selling you phones, seeing as they're a service provider. They could stop dealing with Tech Support and Warranty issues, and not having to buy the dang things from the manufacturers would save them mucho pesos.

No, I don't speak spanish.

If they did not offer phones there would be no reason to sign a contract aftter the initial one.

The infamous phone "upgrade" is the carrot on a stick to get the customer to sign another couple years so they can project their income stream.

They could easily stop selling phones but it would not be in their best interest.

Contracts only exist to subsidize equipment. With no contract you can be assured the customer service would be a lot better.

Believe me, wireless carriers over there have contracts. They give you the option of getting a subsidized phone with contract, or buy it at retail. I've been checking out some of the wireless carriers' websites in Europe, and they offer contracts with a subsidized phone. Their calling plans with contract don't look as good as ours though.
