Release Date For The Blackberry 8820

I was wondering if anybody has a release date for the 8820? I know it is supposed to have Wi-Fi. Now this may sound like a dumb question, but I am new to this technology stuff and I was wondering what is the big deal with Wi-Fi? How is it an advantage to having it on your cell phone? Thanks guys 🙂

Ummm...
If a building has wi-fi your internet speeds are ridiculously faster than with edge or 3g(for now). Plus its free no monthly fee to access wi-fi.
