Choosing your phone number....
I'm looking to switch to ATT and I was curious if it is some how possible to choose the last 4 digits of your phone number.
Are there any carriers that allow this?

I know Centennial allowed me to choose my number when I bought my first phone with them in 2002. (Of course, I ported my number to Nextel when I went with them two years later.) As I recall, I picked the last four digits (1456) based on a double mnemonic. ('1' then across the middle row, plus 14 times 4 makes 56). Since a majority of those who call me do so from cell phones, it seems that the mnemonics aren't really needed, but I thought it was cool at the time. Incidentally, I could've picked a Coldwater number (which woul've been local to where I was living at the time) from the Battle Creek store, but I stuck with the area code which encomp...

not sure about CARE (Bellsouth) or POS I or II (agents)
I do it quite often simply to go that extra step in order to build the relationship with the customer. Most of the time customers remember you going that extra step and will come back to you when they need something.
