Live Ticker Charges

OK, here's one for the experts/employees out there. My phone has that old Cingular Live Ticker feature on it. You get headlines and a paragraph about local, national, and sports news, and your local weather forecast. Most of the time it is worthless because it is so outdated. Ticker usage has never been free. They've instructed us to disable the ticker for accounts without a MEdia Net package from the beginning.

Below is an FAQ from AT&T's site telling me it is free. I know if I click on the More button for the full story I am going to the internet and I will be charged.

I have never been charged before for just running the ticker. Now I am really confused.

Q. How much does MEdia Net Live Ticker cost?

A.There is no charge to watch MEdia Net Live Ticker's headlines and pictures scroll across the bottom of your phone's idle screen. You can even click "More" to read the entire headline, free of charge. If you click again, and visit the news item's web page, you are using the wireless Internet and standard data charges apply.

All that information has to get onto your phone from somewhere, and that's the internet.

He said it charged him a little bit here and there but never much. I would disable the ticker and just not worry about it again.
