GPS can be achieved with an accessorie like most phones. It may not have the service at release but neither did most of our devices.
...
Yes but most phones do not come with built in google maps, and the BT GPS receivers are a pain ti carry around, and take forever ti warm up. Not worth the money.
...
No, built in maps but it only takes about 15 seconds at most to download the application. I've never tried the GPS Receivers, but the 8800 GPS works great, unless you try to start it indoors that is.
...
the other receivers work the same as the 8800 when connected
e62 worked awsome
...
stop reposting this junk, some of this isnt even true...
...
attwork..im not reposting u idiot..read the time...of the original post...2nd all this stuff is true..if you don't believe it...check my ref

and to guy true..but this is a multimedia phone..it's advertised strongly with google maps insinuating built in gps..which i believe is misleading...from a marketing/consumer standpoint.
...
Google maps never made a claim to GPS. Phones have had Google maps for a long time and never worked with GPS. You can however still get directions, phone numbers, and addresses with Google maps making a very useful tool. I have downloaded it to all of my devices to date. It never said it gave you real time turn by turn directions, if people assume that, then its their own fault for assumptions. π
Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me. I hope the phone flops since I can't get paid on anything regarding it. I will be losing activations trying to compete with it.
...
im an idiot?...ok....whatever, your the one that posting all this false info (not all of it, but some)....your claiming its true when its all rumors. like a little school girl gossiping.
...
how are these rumors...???? these are facts buddy...have you forgotten this phone has been reviewed...these aren't theories...
"Everything We Know About the iPhone
Following up our list of features the iPhone was finally confirmed not to have, here's a comprehensive list based on the four reviews currently out detailing everything we know about the iPhone so far: what it has, what it doesn't have, its known problems and what we still don't know.
What it has:
βΒ’ Built-in iPod with Video playback
βΒ’ Intelligent predictive typing
βΒ’ Multi-touch interface (fast)
βΒ’ Great scratch resistant screen (easily cleaned with your sleeve)
βΒ’ Tilt sensors that lock the screen when up to your face, but unlocks it when you lower it to type numbe...

a lot of those "issues" seem as though they can be fixed with software updates. Really though, no phone will ever be perfect for every single person. Everyone has their own expectation of a phone and the manufactors can't tailor each phone to the indvidual.

AT&T's signal is lousy
Compared to what? ATT offers one of the largest networks in the nation, rivaled only by Verizon. Are you suggesting that all cell signal is lousy? π€¨
...
oh no comment...not made by me...but by gizmodo" http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/apple/everything-w e-know-about-the-iphone-272827.php "
but personally...i think gsm USA is pretty lousy... π
...
Its because you have no experience then. I love my GSM over the Sh!t service I had with VZW and the service my wife still has with them on her parents plan.
...
oh contraire...i do have experience as ive previosly stated ive had ATT and i've had Tmobile..compared to verizon and sprint...signal and call quality were horrible..maybe in your location its different but in florida....both north and south...its terrible
...
well here in Denver, CO I can say that At&t is the best service out here. I can't imagine having anything else. I have service where ever I go.
...
Same with Washington/Oregon/Idaho.
...
That's crazy talk AT&T suck balls in OR/WA. And yes, that's from personal experience.
...
Ok, how about we argue about it. I like it, you don't. I do not think its crazy. Verizon cornered this market in the early 2000s but a lot has changed since then. I will never go back to VZW. π
...
Okay lets argue. No just kidding. But I was surprised to see you say that. When I moved to the Northwest from the Northeast I couldn't get rid of AT&T fast enough. The service was so bad I actually paid the early term fees on both my and my wife's lines to get out.
...
HMMM...the tables have turned charlie murphy...hahahah
...
? π To Jungle, I wonder if it was device problems?(I know this is the lame fall back of all cellular reps). I had a 551 that was absolute crap, but other than that device it has been phenomenal.*shrugs*
...
I doubt it. One SE phone and one Nokia? It would be a stretch.
...
Wow, especially with the nokia. Interesting. I suppose I just channel radio signals to my very spot, that or you thwart them. π
...
It's possible. Well no matter now. Thanks for the concern though. π

My girlfriend lives in Denver. She switched from Cingular to Verizon because Cingular doesn't work where I live (Wyoming). I asked her if it was any different, and she said it's the same. Personally, I'd rather have service that works in town as well as out of town.

She switched before they decided to call themselves AT&T again. That was about a year ago.
...
I would sooner go to T-Mobile over Verizon...I live in Denver as well. I just find that I can't get good reception out here with them, it gets worse indoors. There are people in my department that can't get reception with verizon the second they step in our building, but with At&t I have full bars.
...
I've never had a problem with my Verizon phone in the Denver area. As soon as you get to Cheyenne and head south on I-25, it's solid coverage. I spend most of my time in the south Denver area, but again, I've never had a problem. My phone works fine in my girlfriend's basement.
...
Wyoming is still part of our partner coverage. Like other carriers we terminate service if 50% is offnetwork usage.
...
Bring your phone here and see how well it works. We port students over to Verizon left and right when they find out their phones don't work here.
I'm not saying that Verizon is a better company. I'm saying don't argue with me because I live here and you're looking at a coverage map.
...
Lol, no I was agreeing with you. If you tried to use ATT at your location ATT would terminate service.
...
You have to wait a month or so, but they will. If you try to talk them into cutting your service off before then, they won't cut it off until they decide they've had enough. I had one guy that couldn't get his service shut off for 6 months, then he gave up and paid the ETF. I felt bad for him. That was last summer. It's possible that AT&T changed the rules a little bit from when it was Cingular.
...
Perhaps I will give you that. I haven't tried service in Florida.
...
well on prev posts it states there is no removable sim card/sim card slot....which is not true, one bit of misinformation like that makes me doubt all of your info
...
Getting your contacts onto here from your old phone may be a hassle
this is all done through itunes, making it easier than any other CDMA to GSM conversion of contacts.
...
Known Problems:
βΒ’ Can get a little warm after use
βΒ’ Battery will need to be replaced by Apple after 300-400 charges
βΒ’ Levy had problems with one of his email accounts, due to his ISP blocking port 25. Apple's engineers "suggested a fix and said that this was something that would probably be addressed in an update."
βΒ’ EDGE data is very slow
βΒ’ AT&T's signal is lousy
βΒ’ No hardware playback buttons make you go back to the iPod app to change songs or stop music
βΒ’ Takes more taps to reach the phone interface than other smartphones
βΒ’ Getting your contacts onto here from your old phone may be a hassle
βΒ’ No real-time navigation

Seems like people should just decide for themselves if they like the phone or not, instead of having other people what they like.
...
All with an obvious bias. Look at my last response and you will see how inaccurate these all are. π
...
What it doesn't have:
βΒ’ Support for all iPod accessoriesβdoesn't support all car adapters for playing back, only charging(what device does support all car adapters for said abilities? Sony for instance has chargers that do and do not have the ability to plug in a headset.)
βΒ’ An easy way to transfer phone numbers, via AT&T, from an existing phone(transfers though Itunes will make this amazingly easier than finding a store that has a device capable of the transfer)
βΒ’ Copy and paste support(what phone does other than PDAs?)
βΒ’ MP3/iTunes music ringtones( π Maybe right, but likely to change)
βΒ’ Built-in game support(Itunes offers games, why wouldn't Iphone?)
βΒ’ Flash support anywhere (including browser)(What phone does?)

Wow, thats pretty cheap. Of course it can't be that great being you have the highest churn in the industry.

True, I'm not by any means an apple fan boy. I am however against spreading of false information. On the GSM side, I'm looking forward to our 7.2mb/s speeds projected late this year! π
...
yeah...but it will be GSM..wake me up when you guys hit LTE(long term evolution) ahahahahh
...
and what path does CDMA alone have for voice and data simultaneously? the future is the combination of GSM and CDMA which is UMTS. you might wanna wake up, π

screw that the future is wimax buddy....

the world is not changing to wimax, only a few carriers. lol, at the rate sprint is dying even wimax won't save them. we'll see. it's funny when cdma fanboys try to argue technology. no matter what you feel, GSM and it's path isn't dying. more than 2 billion subscribers don't lie. π
...
i just realized..i was hesitant about buying the ps3 for that much money...but realizing a phone cost the same..wow...how can 2 devices cost the same amount..and one doesnt do/ or even have the same production cost as the other...hmmmm
...
Maybe the Iphone plays blueray?
...
answer: capitalism. It's a beautiful thing, huh?
...
Don't forget it cures cancer too. Well not all types, but the ones that can go into remission from cellular radio signals when combined with wifi signals are doomed!
...
lol....its mindblowing..2items in indirect markets...for american consumer consumption..cost the exact same...yet one only costs $249 in production cost..where apple stands to make more than 50% in profit...their receiving the same hype before launch...are americans really this product ignorant...?
...
There is less residual income through other purchases like controllers, games, and various other parafanalia for the Iphone. Don't get me wrong, apple has plenty of little things for the Ipod at rediculous prices but that can't compete with game royalties.
...
lol... not this again.. that "report" was specious to say the least.. How many millions is Apple already in the hole before selling a single phone? Do you have the list of the hardware that actually resides in the device with actual costs?
And Guy makes a good point.. you can't begin to compare residuals on the phone versus the next 5 years of games/licensing for the PS3.. there is a reason its a loss leader for Sony..
...
The sad thing about that is the PS3 is being sold below cost and the iPhone.. well... you know.
PS, I thought by the title this was a thread from a spammer looking to sell stuff.
...
nope not trying 2 sell..just illustrating america's ignorance...
...
I know, it just looked funny. I read the title and said "WTH?"
...
No GSM slot it is just wrong! That defeats the whole purpose of having a GSM phone and having the capability to travel world wide.
I know ATT roaming plans exists but why pay for that when you can get a local pre-paid GSM card at country of destination.
I am mainly upset with the lack of a GSM slot.
I am fine with the others. I am not a huge internet surfer so no 3G doesn't bother me.
...
jesus people....there will be a sim card slot!
...
demmit attwork..what part of that don't you understand...the sim slot will not be accessible by the consumer...."what part of that don't you understand?" think about it..if the sim slot was accessible then it could get unlocked right...? and this phone is being sold as unlockable....
...
