This whole thing with Cingular buying out ATT kinda confused me a bit. Like it was a good move for them, but i live in Utah and Cingular doesn't have service at all in Utah! And i keep wondering how they can buy out another company and still not have service in all of the states...

If AT&T had coverage in Utah, then Cingular® will have coverage in Utah now, won't they? 😕 Or am I missing your point?

I think he may be saying that Cingular doesn't sell service in Utah...like he can't get a Utah number from Cingular. (If my take on his question is wrong, I apologize in advance)

ATTWS had coverage in Montana, but we didn't sell service in Montana. The coverage was due to roaming agreements.

November is day one for the new Cingular, so if you go in to an ATTWS store on that day or after you will be buying Cingular rate plans and phones with local numbers.

I fail to see your logic. We can buy out a company all we want.

we can't CLAIM to have coverage in all fifty states if we don't..that's what we couldn't do.

But not having coverage in all the states (not saying we don't) isn't to say we can't buy out another company. 😛

Cingular now has Coverage in all 50 states. How ever they donot offer service in all 50 states (meaning you can't get a cingular phone if you don't live in an area Cingular offers service). I've been told with the AWS merger they have only 49 states and are currently looking at purchasing the license in the 50th state. However Cingular does have service in UT now. Keep in mind NOW is the last 2 weeks.

Apparently Alaska is the missing state in the equation...can't say I remember why. I think that means its the only state where the phones won't work. And there are some states where you can't buy the service, but where you can use the cell towers if you have service in another location where you can buy the service.
