A little factoid about the cost to make an Iphone

Businessweek has a very good article that states according to an iSuppli analyst mentioned that the 4GB version that is currently is being sold at $499 costs $230 to build and on the 8GB version, which will be sold for $599, costs $265. They mention that the most expensive part is that touch screen 3.5-inch display at $33.50.
What a great margin for Apple.

At least they have room to bring the price down.

Yea, which I think they will bring the price down on the Iphone. Check out the situation with the Motorola RAZR. Same thing will happen. (of course at a different price point.)

I want to see the next generation of phones that incorporate the iPhone technology.

I think some of the technology that it is in Iphone is great, but some needs to be upgraded. Of course what first comes to mind is the flash storage space of only 4Gb and 8Gb. The Ipods have a lot more than that. That touch screen is a very great functionality, but I think many people need to get used to it, which could face some problems, because other devices have keyboards either qwerty or t9 text. Of course another issue has to deal with the higher speed data. They obviously need to add push email support to the functionality will boost its neediness and Blackberry could be facing difficulty as it would attack their market.

I agree with you, but they need to keep in mind that if they are going to target a specific demographic and mar...

It isn’t surprising at all as I expected them to get more than a 35% margin prior to that report by that analyst but I just wanted to inform others, especially if they think this device will be a hit, perhaps investing in the stock would be a good idea. (Obviously I have them and AT&T shares but I just like to talk numbers.)

Well that is their issue I guess but I like to provide interesting factoids to the forums to allow for at least a meaningful debate. Verizon “fan boys” can chip in if they want and have a dialogue. You obviously know that Verizon was in talks with Apple to have exclusivity with Apple’s Iphone but failed and went to AT&T. perhaps this THE catalyst that AT&T was waiting for to continue to expand on that slim lead over Verizon.

I don’t actually like the buyout that AT&T did with them. I felt that with the current roaming deal in place it will allow them to save money because $7.5B with the assumption of debt is far more expensive than what AT&T would pay over 10 years or so, I computed this on the news forum, so that is why I dislike this deal.

yeah, their profit margin is terribly high. Because, you know, they have
1: Developers of the phone that worked for free.
2: Shipping chargers were free, because it's Apple.
3: AT&T sales reps ALSO work for free.
4: Apple Store workers: Free.
5: Cell phone towers, which are free to use as well.

Those greedy punks at Apple.
