Samsung 717, why is it so expensive?

So in checking our price list I noticed the Samsung 717 is only $3 less than the Blackjack.

WTF?

Why is this phone any more than the SYNC or the new A727? From what I see on good ole phonescoop it has more internal memory. That is it.

Anyone care to shed some light on this one? Does it come with a golden ticket or something?

Hmm... I haven't seen RS pricing on this guy yet (we're getting him in August) but I'd suspect it may have something to do with the rotating camera. That drove the price up on the Samsung SPH A900 a year or so ago.

Just a guestimation.

Too bad the rotating camera feels like crap in comparison to the lg cu500's.

yeah, but you wouldn't believe how many people would respong to the question "have you seen that lg cu500v?" with "is that motorola?" I see your point but maybe it's also due to the popularity of the brand, the only popular brand that I see with the lower pricing is Nokia. (Example: iPod versus Creative Zen)

Thats a good question. I wanted to purchase one and went to ebay and they are trying to get 300 bucks for it and so is ATT online. I guess I will just wait a while 😡

Seriously. Its rediculous what they are attempting to charge us for some of these new handsets. Not to mention the recent markup on half of their phones, especiall the V3xx which went through the roof!

You can say that again, I was on our last local dealer call and they said if we order the handsets by the 26 of June we would get the old price. Well I did and next morning I got hit with the higher price on the V3xx. I saw a week later that I could buy the same phone for less than the company charged me at the local walmart. Jezzz, a dealer a break ! 👿

I think it does....
Which by the way, no other carrier can offer because of network limitations. ie: simultaneous voice and data. (Just thought I would throw that out there)

But so did the CU500v, and that was much less expensive.
