Porting son's T-Mobile number to my ATT family plan...
Is there anything tricky about porting my son's number, who's a T-Mobile customer, to my ATT family plan - since his old account is in his name and the new account (with his ported number) will be in my name?
What I'm trying to figure out is whether I can add him to my family plan, porting his number, by myself, since he lives in another city. I'm curious as to whether he'll actually need to go to a store with me to make this happen.
Thanks!

Well for one you will need his Social Security Number

That's no problem. I certainly have access to that. Any idea what else I'll need?
Thanks!

Bring in a copy of his T-Mobile bill, all of that information will be needed as well as his full SSN. Technically we are not allowed to do that but it works, if they say it's not possible try another store. I do it on a daily basis.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'm glad to know it can be done like that. I called and talked to a T-Mobile rep this morning and was told I would need to transfer my son's phone to my name first, so they matched. Good to know that's not really necessary.
Thanks again!

Yeah I port over people on a different name all the time. Never had a problem with it as long as the SSN was correct.

Well I sure appreciate all the help! Now I feel very comfortable with the whole thing! I just printed out a recent bill from the T-Mobile web site, and I have his soc sec number too. I have everything I need now. Now that ATT has unlimited texting for 29.99, I'm migrating finally - and adding the 5th line for my "T-Mobile" son!
Thanks again.

Make sure with at&t that the phone number can be added to your family plan. Family plans with at&t work by regions.
Example you can not create a family plan with a Miami number and an Orlando number with at&t.
You will also need his account number and any passwords if he has.

Thanks! Yes, his number is the same area code as all of the ones on my plan now. Thanks for your help!
