When i say "no", i mean, "no".
i just got a customer on the line not two seconds ago that stated upfront that he has a t-mobile phone which he states he SOMEHOW purchased at a cingular store. He is upset thathis internet is not working..he's been adv by both t-mobile and cingular that there is nothing we can do about that, when you use a phoen from another carrier your internet will nto work. Period. He says "well, i bought the phone from cingular" and I said "sir, we do not sel T-mobile phones at our company stores. It is mandated by the FCC that we cannot do that, but regardless of WHERE or WHO you got it from, the internet will not work." The guy refuses to believe me, and req a manager who is advising him of the same thing...Oi
NO MEANS NO.

In theory... If the voice end works... the data end should work if the settings are changed to our network... The problem is we don't have a listing of which phones will and won't works... It's a matter fo trial and error...

yep... and cingular requires most manufactures to disable changing data service... some, like nokia will not on some phones, so they can be changed.

I've set up a lot of other phones to work with cingular settings for data... the most recent ones being two nokias. A 3200 from ATT and an NGAGE from t-mobile.

funny thing is... I have heard reps say the same thing about MANY phones... I can get them to work... what kind of phone was it?
...
a nokia....3120...I think. I'm not sure I remember. It was all kinds of yesterday.
