Software Upgrading Question

I have been a Verizon Wireless customer and am used to taking my phone to Verizon Wireless to flash the phones for software upgrades as they become available. I have been speaking with the tech support for both ATTWS and Cingular if they have the same capabilities and was advised they do not. If I switch to ATTWS/Cingular, how would I update my software version if they do not do it? Is this something I can flash from my own computer if I have a data connectivity kit? If so, how can I get the firmware/software to do so?

You'd have to talk to the manufacture or go to a repare shop for the manufacture (motorola repare shops seems to be verizon stores more often then not). Of course I haven't seen too many phones that get software updates. One or two motorola's have required it and the odd nokia but not very many phones get software updates that i have seen.

Why do you say that? I have had my T720 for almost 2 years now and have gone through 3 software upgrades.
