almost 1 month of ATT service and i havent dropped a call yet...
I am really suprised, my dad had them a couple years ago and he dropped calls everywhere
although i have a 8525 so that probobly make a difference.
heck i can have 1 bar and still be fine
and my area has been known to have horrible coverage. (omaha nebraska)
i cant wait for 3g if we ever get it...
maybe if people would invest in a better phone they might just get better reception
...
telling people please dont get the free phone, seems wrong but hey customers are cheap. congrats on not dropping any calls. 😎

A lot of network changes can happen in those few years. If you're talking about the old AWS, you had the old TDMA network which was quite robust in some places, but heavily dependant upon roaming agreements to fill out the network. AWS also found itself in situations where first it sold spectrum, then found out they needed it because they were overloaded. They also had a spaghetti-like (ie the coverage map looked like spilled noodles) GSM network which never passed the 'work in progress' stage until after the merger with Cingular.
Having a good phone helps, but the network itself is barely recognizable from what it was. I'm glad that it's working out well for you in any case.

I have had Cingular/AT&T since my sophmore year of high school and have NEVER had a dropped call. When people complain about dropped calls, I laugh. 🤣
