sony ericsson phones

I am thinking about getting a new phone when the new ones come out, and from what I've seen, I'm thinking about getting the se z500.

I have the se t616 right now. I like phone overall, but there a few things I dislike about it:

1)navigating the menus seems a tad slow
2)increasing ring you can't get rid of
3)speaker volume is a little low
4)screen light stays on while talking, and it night, this is very bright and annoying

Do any of you have SE phones that have come out AFTER the t616? If so, has SE improved on any of these issues?

Also, still new to all of the cell phone stuff. Not sure if phone or carrier has more to do with reception. Do newer SE phones seem to have good reception?

Thanks in advance.

Sony Ericsson has drastically improved on the t637, but there are still some issues, though not nearly as many as the t616.

Improvements that need to be made is the static and buzzing in the earpiece, and also the camera options menu, which is tough to navigate.

They made big progress in the earpiece volume, reception and faster menu system...so this is a good manufacterer to look at getting a phone from, it's been proven that they are listening to consumers.

Thanks Storm. Are you saying the t637 has static/buzzing in the earpiece? My t616 sounds very clear & has good sound, it's just not that loud. I don't have the best hearing though.

You're welcome, yes i'm saying the t637 has static in the earpiece, but other than that, most of the phone is flawless. Hopefully the newer models to be carried by the new Cingular will improve further.

I have not had the static problem that most people complain about. However, I agree with people that it is a very sound-sensitive phone. If I'm calling from my car, I have to turn the radio completely off or the person I'm calling just gets too much noise.

I was a former Nokia fan, but I really like the T637. For the camera phone part, I find that using the Night Vision setting makes indoor pictures come out much brighter.

Overall, I like the phone, even better than my Nokias. I have had very good reception in receiving or making calls. I learned the menus in a day, so I didn't find them that difficult. Just my opinion. 😁

i agree my only complaint about se is that the t637 should have came out in place of the t616. tft screen, bluetooth(which i think is the best of all the phones i've used;siemens, nokia and motorola}, navigation are a plus on the se t637. i have the t616, i want mp3 player and high resolution on camera along with tft screen. looking for the s710a very soon.
