Cingular or at&t?
Im going on friday to buy the LG cu500v. If I put my cingular sim in it, will it say cingular or at&t? Will they charge me for a new at&t 3g sim?

No they don't charge for new sims with any phone purchase. If you have a old sim you can also get it changed for free. Make sure everything works within 30 day trial.

Since then At&t (landline) merged with Bell South and the parent company of Cingular and chose to brand everything The New At&t.

Ok as part of the merger and also for reasons unknown to me some customers where divested in certain markets. Cingular customers in Alaska where sold to Dobson as where the towers.
A few years later, New At&t purchased customers and towers from Dobson as the change did not harm competition as There are still the same number of Carriers providing service now as preceding this change. 😁

some do and some dont, i hear daily from customers that have handsets that havent switched over. new account registrations should never see cingular tho.
