Any news on the RAZR 2?

Will AT&T be getting this phone? Any word on release dates or pricing yet? I've managed to avoid the original RAZR (and it's many variations), but the RAZR 2 is looking pretty sweet. Anyone here know anything yet?

So AT&T will be getting it? 🙂
I'm sure it will be quite expensive at first. I wouldn't be shocked if it was close to $500. I do think that would be a big mistake though. Anyone willing to pony up 5 bills for a RAZR 2 would probably rather just spend $100 more and get an iPhone. If I can resist the urge to upgrade early, I've got 19 months left in my contract. By that time they'll be a LOT cheaper.

Not me. I would not buy the iPhone for $600. The RAZR would be my choice. But I am buying an N95, Thats the best phone for the money. I need a GPS anyway, So the phone really is not costing all that much.

I thought you didn't like fancy phones. Isn't the N95 a fancy phone, to say the least?

Why not just buy it unlocked?

Aren't unlocked phones usually just as expensive as paying "full price" from the AT&T store? What's the advantage to an unlocked phone?

Full features.... Just to name one: you can use your songs as ringtones... Also you can also get it way before its released. I know guys in here who had (or claimed they had) the W810i 3 or 4 months before it was released by Cingular

Hmm...early release would be cool. If it's priced abouth the same as paying full price at the AT&T store, I probably won't do it. As much as I would love to have a premium phone, I can't justify spending that much. Especially when, if you wait long enough, you get it at a BIG discount sooner or later.

If the V3i is any indication, I paid a little less for my unlocked V3i than ATT sells it for the "full price." So not only was it a little cheaper, but I can use it on any GSM provider in the world just by dropping in a new SIM.

That said, unlocked V8 RAZR2's are going for about $550 today. Not sure what the V9's are selling for.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I'd love to have one, but if I spent $550 on a cell phone my wife would kill me. Especially when the "free" SE W300i I have now works perfectly for everything I need a phone to do. I would be getting the RAZR 2 for looks and "coolness" alone. That's not worth it.....yet. 😉

It will be about $349.00 if you buy it from at&t without renewing your contract. With a new contract or a upgrade on your contract it will be about $199.99 with a $50.00 mail in rebate. That's the at&t pricing.
