Media Net Pay Per Use & Unlimited Text

smilediva

I do not use the media net but I had the unlimited data and text for 39.99 a month. I changed to the unlimited text for 19.99 and the media net pay per use which is 0.01 kilobyte. My question is if I only do Instant Messaging, will i be charged for data? The lady told me no and I wanted to know if that was true.... thank you

From what I know you should have unlimited text, mms,and IM with that package. No data should be charged unless you are using media net to browse pages, dl ringtones etc...

PLEASE READ A RECENT MESSAGE I POSTED ON THIS IN REFERENCE TO A REPLY I POSTED FOR SOMEONE THAT HAD THE SAME QUESTION..........AS USUAL AT&T WILL GIVE YOU DIFFERENT ANSWERS TO THE SAME EXACT QUESTION. I CALLED JUST 2 DAYS AGO TO VERIFY THIS INFO (AGAIN) AND THE REP STATED THAT "THE ONLY UNLIMITED PORTION OF THE UNLIMITED TEXT/PIC/MMS 19.99 PACKAGE IS THE ACTUAL MESSAGE PORTION, AND DATA USED TO SEND/RECEIVE THE MMS OR TO LOG INTO YAHOO, YOU ARE CHARGED FOR ACCORDING TO YOUR DATA PLAN OR IF YOU ARE PAY PER USE IT GOES TWORDS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!" AGAIN......AT THIS MOMENT I HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA AND IM FRUSTURATED. I HAVE SOME REPS SAY......THAT NO YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED THE DATA ON IM'S AND MMS....OTHERS LIKE THE LAST TIME I CALLED SAY YOU WILL...

you are not supposed to be charged for the data usage for IM, there has to be some sort of mix up with your bill, I have never encountered this problem with any customers at my location.

I still think that is wrong. It uses gprs not media net. Call back a few times and see how many different answers you get.

Ha ha yeah, true, we get all the military people out here too, its the only service that works out at dugway. But the CLC calls alot of the customers out here and upgrades alot of them, which sucks, but they are just doing there job so I cant be to mad at them 🤣 And unfortunately, alot of people order online because they do not know we are out here. Isn't Brickyard a new location? what store did you work at before?

Dude I can't tell you how frustrating the CLC is. They cause a load of headaches. Plus I work hard to build up a client base and they reap the benefits. Brickyard has been here since march so we are still fairly new. I Have been with spring since nov of 2004 and have worked at cottonwood mall, then fort union, and now I'm the BM here. I sure waste a lot of time on phonescoop but I can only count my inventory and clean my store so much ya know!

It is wrong. IMs use internet but they are automatically re-rated as a text message.

I believe if you're using a 3rd party application for IM it would be different, but the mobile IM programs built into and offered by att for many devices count as text messages.

and if you access media net and use im that way it will bill... but i'm sure some reps are so stuck on old ways they refuse to be trained otherwise.
