iPhone SIM Card

I did a quick search for this, but I didn't see anything on the topic. Sorry if this has been covered.

Is the SIM card in the iPhone able to be changed? My girlfriend's brother got an iPhone recently, but he travels overseas to Europe for business quite a bit. I've heard that the SIM card is pretty much impossible to take out, but that might just be rumors from people that are trying to bad mouth the phone. Can he use this phone in Europe with a different SIM?

you can take it out, but if you put another sim in it, it will say incorrect sim or something similiar to that.

So he couldn't use the phone in Europe unless he was paying AT&T for international roaming...?
