I'm in Houston, too. 😁 I don't have your particular phone, but just moved to Cingular (from Verizon) this summer. I have been VERY happy with the reception and have had NO dropped calls. Even downtown has not been a problem (as it was with Verizon). I have seen nothing different with my calls after the acquisition either.

Used to live in Houston and ATT was horrible there.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Houston market was not included in the merger. You will continue to be ATTWS customers exclusively and won't be able to migrate to Cingular. You will be sold off in the future. 😡

What??? Houston was not a divested market. ATT customers can very well migrate to Cingular if they like. In fact, I've done several this past week.

Funny because I tried to migrate a customer with a usage area and CSA of Houston and couldn't beacuse the account was notated that it was part of the divestiture market and not to migrate under any circumstance.According to the info I have these areas, Jack, TX - RSA 6 - Cherokee, TX - RSA 11 are part of the divestiture markets also. Must only be this guy living and operating out of Houston, But good luck.
*Actually just talked to TSD and was informed parts of Houston will be affected but not whole market. No idea of exact areas.

The GSM coverage in Houston and the rest of SE Texas is wonderful, both before and I am sure after the merger. I grew up in Brenham, dated a girl in the Woodlands and had a college roomate who was from Pearland. So needless to say I was all over H town to visit.
I personally am not a big fan of LG, but it is their best phone that they have made for Cingular, to date. I would recommend the Moto V551 (which I carry and love) or the Nokia 6230 which I use to carry. You can now get the Moto V400 for free now, on a 2yr. agreement which is awesome pricing for this phone. If you look at a Cingular map, about 85% of Texas is covered with most of the trouble in West Texas. I use to sell Cingular in Lubbock before I moved to Dallas to d...
