You would think Voicemail would be simple to set up

So, I'm attempting to set up voicemail now (been too busy to)...and I'm trying to follow the instructions on the AT&T website (how it says press and hold 1, then instructions will be given to you on how to set up your mailbox)

These instructions are not given to me. Instead, it says:

"Welcome to AT&T Voicemail. We are sorry, but we need more information to direct your call to the appropriate voice mailbox. If you are trying to leave a message, please redial the 10-digit phone number of the person you are trying to call. If you have a mailbox on this system, please press #."

I did both, the first one told me there was not a mailbox for my number, the second one then asked "Mailbox number please" then said "We are sorry, but we ca...

That can happen if your service does not actually have a voicemail feature provisioned. It can drop off if not set up within a certain amount of time (can't recall how long off the top of my head).

It can also happen if your phone somehow has the wrong voicemail retrieval number programmed. Normally it's programmed automatically when your phone is first activated. Sometimes voicemail boxes are shuffled onto a different server, though, and it doesn't automatically reprogram the VM retrieval number in the phone.

Remedying either is going to require a call to customer care, I'm afraid.

Well I called in...Voicemail and call waiting are working, yay!

Also, AT&T Customer Care was excellent...by far better than the verizon experiences I've had (either that, or I was just lucky this time.)

There is one issue to sort out...apparently I didn't have 3-way calling either, so the rep added it onto my acct. It wasn't working like I had it, so we hung up after fixing everything and I restarted the phone. Then I attempted to make another 3 way call as she described and it did not work.

I have the MotoRAZR V3xx Platinum...I looked through the manual to try to figure out how to do it, and it still befuddles me....yet somehow yesterday I figured out how to access a 3-way calling option in a menu. Can anyone shed some light on ...
