nothing makes it better. Verizon's network is vastly supperior to AT&Ts network. Everyone here who is honest will admit to that.

Haha. Dont listen to this lil guy. If that was so true then why are we adding customers just as VW does? Although in his area VW is better than AT&T's network, the case is not the same for everyone and he fails to realize it. Try both, you got 30 days to cancel AT&T if you dont like it!

Thanks to Midnight for his completely unbiased report on the subject.

Verizon does have a great network for data, as does Sprint. They have more 3rd generation netowrk cities than does AT&T. You need to examine where you will be using this service.

AT&T has a significant advantage in the non-3G markets in that our EDGE network is far superior to the non-3G networks of Verizon and Sprint.

So, where exactly will you be using your service?

Well put Tex.
Also keep in mind, GSM will allow you to use voice and data simultaneously.

SIM cards come in handy if you change equipment often.

Friends can send you ringtones from their phones. You are not forced to buy them from the carrier.

I wouldn't say either is truly to superior its like ford vs chevy. Some people just like one over the other even though they do the same thing. I think your best bet is to analyze where you are using your phone and which carrier offers the best service in that area for what you use your service for. Then see what company offers you the most competitive rates and then make your decision. With all the carriers you should have a 15-30 day window once signing up to cancel and go else where. I highly advise to take advantage of this. Personally I like having gsm because I can get unlocked phones from around the world that no one else has and they are unlocked so all their functions aren't impeded like the phones you get from the carriers. I've ne...

The ringtone thing is a good point, but in terms of service it largely depends on where you live. I'm in south-central PA, and have had Verizon, ATT, and Cingular (when they were separate, and now that they've merged). None of them was great in terms of call quality, but my area seems to be some kind of cellular black hole. For what it's worth, I *have* found, however, that ATT's call quality was the best of the bunch, Cingular's rollover minutes are nice, and ATT's customer service is vastly superior to Verizon's.
