3G content & upcoming K850

I'm going to get the SE K850 whenever it becomes available. However, since I'm going to get it unlocked.... My question is... Will there be a way for me to load the Cingular Video (or whatever name the feature is called nowadays) on it. I'm somewhat torn because this would be my first 3G phone, and I don't want to miss out on 3G content. What do you guys think? Will I be able to still watch videos from another source? I'm getting the phone unlocked regardless, but since I'm a heave data user I wanted to know...

No, if it is unbranded then access to any Cingular content is unavailable.

So, what would I do in order to get 3G content (videos etc) I mean, I'll be happy to browse at faster speeds, but I want to be able to watch news clips and stuff...

You get a Cingular branded phone. There is no other alternative. The network detects your IMEI number, and if the phone is not supported by Cingular, its a no go.

Oh well, I guess that would be a downfall of getting a 3G unlocked phone. Still, I dont care.
One more question. I think the K850 will support Video Share. Will I be able to do this? or is that a feature that is only available on branded phones too? (I think the answer is yes) ☚ī¸

You should be able to video share, if it isn't a AT&T service.

Since when does the network detect IMEIs?

That is not true. Once the AT&T flash becomes available, you can flash the software on the K850 and take advantage of CV.

The network does detect your IMEI, but it does not use it to judge whether or not it will let you on CV.

As long as you have the software to support it, ATT doesnt care what info is going into the phone. The network just reads your SIM to see if it has a compatible plan to allow it onto the cingularvideo.cingular.com

If what you had said were true, then I wouldn't have been able to upload the blackjack permission files to my Treo 750 and allow it on CV.

You are talking about a BJ and Treo, 2 branded phones. You get in a different league when you start talking about unbranded phones.

Now, this AT&T flash you mentioned is new news to me. If it will allow you to do CV well thats great. But as of right now, my answer is still true and I will believe it when I see it (this flash).
