3g frequencies

Are all markets with 3g using 850/1900? I just got a nokia 6120 classic that has 850 but it doesn't work.

I do believe I had a rep tell me only the 1900. but at&t either is or going to start adding 850. He never said when though.

Someone on Hofo had a screen shot of their 6120 (850 3G) and it was on ATT 3G in Florida I believe..

There's not any particular way to tell, but certain areas will be 850 or 1900 only. Ideally, that's not the case, and coverage from one band will overlap the other in order to get the best coverage. But depending on what spectrum is licensed for a particular market, or depending on which set of monkeys is turning the cranks at the base of the tower that day, you may not have coverage in one of the bands.

If you call in, you may be able to get ahold of someone with the permissions to view the expanded map tool (there's a "super user" version of MTI) that shows which frequencies are available where.

The bottom line is, sadly, some markets are one band only. ☹️

some markets are only 1900 or 850. most have both, but you may be in a 1900 only market... where are you located?
