Cingular tower locator-not Berkana please

We're currently on VZW, and not very pleased. I'm about at the end of my patience with them. Reseaching Cingluar, does anyone know where to find tower locations for Cingular (please don't give me Berkana, been there, done that - it's pretty useless for our area). Because of the lack of sufficient VZW towers in the area where we live, the signal is useless anywhere in our county we would need to use the phones. I don't have the patience to start the same game over with another carrier. Area is Dutchess County NY, near Poughkeepsie, Wappingers Falls, Hopewell Junction.

Thanks in advance!

Where do you live?

I'm in dutchess county and have never had a problem with Vzw reception, I'm just tired of their barebobes offering and boring phones.

Let me know what you find out, I've gotten several different answers to my question about using 70-80% of my air time on a T-Mobile tower that I'd be picking up making calls from my residence.

I've spoken to Cing Cust Serv reps and they can see the Cing owned tower locs, but said they couldn't tell me or didn't know the exact locations of partners' towers.

Nothing yet, still searching. Doesn't anyone know of a site I can use to find out the tower situation in Southern Dutchess County, NY? I spoke to two brick and mortars and they said they don't have that information.

12590, because of the USPS, but we live between Hopewell (12533) and Lagrangeville (12540). near the Taconic. In this area a zipcode reading won't be accurate, unfortunately. Also would need to know about 12603, on Rt 44. So if all you can look up is zip codes, then I need to know about all of them. I know how far the Verizon towers are from me. If Cingular's are no closer, I'm afraid it won't be any different.

For the user who thought it wasn't ok to provide this info, I've already e-mailed CS 3 times and they have never responded. I did try going direct to Cingular, but no rep.y is not a good way to promote new business.

Thanks Volvoracr.

12590 - medium coverage

12533 - partner coverage

12540 - partner coverage

12603 - medium to high coverage.

OK, thanks a bunch! What does partner coverage mean? We're currently on Verizon, and I know how they do it. But I don't know too much about GSM. How would that affect roaming charges, or does Cingular not charge these? Come to think of it, I don't see any reference to roaming charges on the flyer I got. Please don't tell me the partner would be T-mobile, because they have absolutely no signal close enough to me to use. Who else might have GSM signal in my area?

partner coverage is just that we use another carrier's tower in that area. for all of our Nation-wide plans you don't pay any roaming fees and you also get free long distance to anywhere in the united states.

i'm not sure if it would be T-mobile or another local carrier, but it does have those two areas listed as partner coverage, so you'll still be covered.

i posted in a different post that you do have a 30 day trial period with our service, so if you don't like it you can always cancel out within the first 30 days and not have to pay an ETF. we'll just charge you for the minutes that you use.

$36 activation fee will only be credited if you cancel and return equipment within the first 3 days. If you cancel due to buyers remorse from day 4-30 the $36 activation fee will not be credited back.

Just FYI 🙂

Good info, thanks! The local brick and mortar told me he would honor a 14 day, 30 minute limit ,if it turns out there's no coverage. I would pay for minutes used.

it really depends on where you are in dutchess county. the closer you are to the major cities like poughkeepsie and wappingers falls, the better your service is going to get. if you're not right under a tower you'll still be ok since you'll be covered under our partner coverage. i'd say go for it, but i'm biased!

hope that helps!

Not really. I need by the East Fishkill - Lagrange line, near the Taconic to work well, and also by Adams. We rarely go near Rt 9, actually avoid it like the plague! Dutchess has gotten way too crowded for us! Any help?

So glad the notify on replies in this website isn't working. If I hadn't checked back I never would have known you'd responded.

i keep looking on the MTi maptool that i have, but it doesn't really even list Taconic. it looks like in putnam county you'll have good service because there's a crap load of towers around there, but if you head up into hopeswell junction you'll be on our partner coverage which might not be as good, i'm not really sure.

i guess your best bet will be to give it our 30 day trial period and see if it works well enough for you.

remember, you can always cancel out of your contract with in the first 30 days and we won't charge you an ETF, we'll only charge you for the minutes that you use.

good luck!

Well, while you're shopping around, let me direct you to the TMobile personal coverage check--you can check every single address you frequent for exact coverage strength. The map in use on our website is the same one care reps and engineering use.

If nothing else, it's fun to play with the map... 😉

If you go to a Cingular store the reps should be able to show you using the MTi map tool

Also do as Aleq suggests. check out T-Mobile coverage for your area.... It will accuratly show T-Mobiles coverage that you would be able to access with your Cingular GSM phone 😁

Only if we have a roaming agreement there, which might not necessarily be the case! 😉
