I think they should set it up in a way that the whole iPhone fries if anyone tries to guess the code more than 3 times or something similar to that..

I'm not sure if I read it right but did he permanently disable it or does it just not work when not on at&t? I'd imagine the Euro carriers that are getting the iPhone will have visual voicemail as well.

Im pretty sure that's a service based feature, so if the Euro carrier had option from Apple to sell the iPhone then it would probably work. Visual voicemail on every other device is just an audio file that's relayed to your device instead of being stored on a voicemail server somewhere.

yep. we had to upgrade our network to support visual voicemail.
